From deep within the American psyche, comes the visualization of our most deep-rooted fears: the ocean set loose, rising and spilling over mountains, erasing everything in its path. Do these images spring from the far-flung, creative imagination of filmmakers, or are they brought back from our collective memory of the inevitable self-destruction of humanity. Regardless, the technology of media alchemically produces imagery so realistic, that it seems destined to prove itself true: the ruin of everything as pure entertainment to satisfy our most voyeuristic desires. Is there any hope for survival? Perhaps, awash in our dreams of nihilism… who knows?
